Northern California Chapter HIMSS - Northern California HIMSS

The Northern California HIMSS Chapter has established a scholarship for students who are pursing degrees related to healthcare information technology, show a commitment to advancing the use of technology in healthcare, and who are residents of Northern California.

The scholarship provides a $5,000 cash award. The winner will also receive an all-expense paid trip to the Annual HIMSS Conference and Exhibition. (Some restrictions may apply.)

The winner of the 2005-6 scholarship is Jim Ort.

The application and selection process for the award is managed by the HIMSS Foundation. The application process for 2008 ends on October 31, 2008. The philanthropic arm of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the HIMSS Foundation is dedicated to furthering healthcare IT professions. Since the early 1990s, the Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to more than 40 exceptional students--with exceptional results.

Prior winners of HIMSS Foundation Scholarships are ineligible for the award.
